mentoring workshop outline
This workshop enables your senior students to effectively coach and mentor younger students. Through fun and practical activities, it will develop understanding and skills that will also prove invaluable for life beyond school.
• what is coaching and mentoring?
being clear about the difference between coaching and mentoring and learning about good practice in both
• coaching and mentoring models:
looking at effective, simple coaching models that provide an effective framework for coaching or mentoring sessions
• asking good questions and actively listening:
effective questioning; active listening – tools and techniques
• engagement, motivation, commitment and action:
tips and techniques to engage, motivate and enable students to make the most of mentoring and coaching opportunities (including overcoming barriers)
• having fun coaching:
practical exercises and activities that develop skills and embed learning
• followup material to develop good practice:
to support the systematic embedding of good practice
• evidence of learning:
all participants will receive a certificate evidencing their learning in the workshop and the topics covered
