Looking at the qualities that make for a better citizen one who takes personal and social responsibility and is willing to stand up and be counted – this workshop enables participants to examine their role in society, and the choices they can make about how to conduct their lives.
• leadership qualities: a detailed look at key leadership qualities by examining different character types, and using fictional characters as examples
• the electoral/voting system: pupils will be introduced to the concept of voting systems and be given the opportunity to take part in an election
• the CPS and judicial system: a ‘crime’ is committed, and pupils are then led on an exploration of the workings of the Crown Prosecution Service and the judicial system
• social awareness, integrity, trust, confidence and enthusiasm: throughout the whole session, these key qualities are examined in detail
• summary: the session concludes with a facilitatorled, open group discussion about the key areas covered during the workshop, where pupils are encouraged to share their views
